Harley

Harley is a Friesian cross with a calm, commanding presence, and photographing him was about patience. We shot at first light on a macadamia farm near Byron Bay, working around his needs and using the landscape to build scenes in the moment rather than forcing poses. I mixed black and white, colour and analog film to give the images a timeless, cinematic quality. Alongside the commercial work, I made portraits for his owner, who loves him dearly, so the series carries both his star quality and the bond behind it.
